A THOMAS POEM: CHILDREN HAVE I NONE
Children have I none
Yet, many children claim me
As Friend, Uncle and Tutor
Some see me as Father
And have told me that
At least once
What I want for them
Is to grow into and within a safe environment
A caring Garden that nurtures every Aspect
Of their being
A place that is warm in spirit, conducive to learning
Full of love and eagerness toward the learning
Of all that they must learn about
These are just some of the things
That I desire, demand, and expect
Of my children
My children who look to me for guidance
Help and support when they may not know
Which road to take
All that I can do
I do, do
All that I can help them with
I assist them with, at times with a steady hand
Other times with a loose rein
To give flight to their inquisitive minds
I want the same for all the children of the world
Not just those children that I call mine
And who call me Uncle
Or who call me Tutor/Teacher
These are some of the things that I want for ALL of my kids
A Place that is truly a Home
